Visiting family in Golden Valley AZ and went to El Rancho for lunch. I've heard the mexican food is really good here but also hear the hamburgers are tasty also. I decided to try the Ortega Burger which is just what you think it would be a cheesburger with an ortega chili. The menu advertises this as a 1/2 lb burger and is served with a choice side of fries, potato salad or cottage cheese. I went with the cottage cheese. Donna (my wife) had the patty melt and fries. The hamburger may not have been a full half pound but it was close to it. The meat did seem like a hand formed patty of fresh beef and not frozen. The flavor was very good and not over seasoned with any seasoned salt like some places. The green chili was a very large piece that covered the entire patty. On the side I had a slice of tomato, white onion, some pickle chips and a leaf of lettuce. All the ingredients were fresh. My side of cottage cheese was also a fresh and a nice chilled temperature. I was very pleased with my lunch and look forward to more meals here. The wife said her patty melt may have been the best patty melt she has ever had. I did sneak a bite or two and it was very good. The bread was toasted just right for a good crunch on the outside and warm juicy meat with grilled onions on the inside. Our food was very good, all ingredients were fresh and the Prices are very reasonable by the way service was prompt and friendly also.At this point I would say El Rancho is a gem along highway 68 in Golden Valley, AZ. We are going back for dinner tonight.

Great mexican and american food. The cheeseburgers and fries are top notch, surprising since it is a mexican place. Great breakfast and huge portions from a great country fried steak to a breakfast burrito that only the hardy can consume. No beer or wine but the amount of food and the value can't be beat. It's more of a locals place than transient so sometimes the banter can get a little noisy, but not enough to detract from the food and value.

THE BEST!!! This is my favorite place....hands down. Small....but always a seat available. Service with a smile and fast too. Prices are reasonable. Mexican and American food choices. Everything I've tried was amazing. If you ever travel through Golden valley you must try the best in town.

Great little diner. The server is very friendly and the food is amazing. I eat breakfast here with my grandfather every time I come to visit. Their country potatoes are the best I've ever had.

Great place to have in Golden Valley. Good food at a good price. There Mexican food is very good and have a great breakfast as well. Definitely the best place to eat around the area.

You can choose either Mexican or traditional US comfort food here. I chose Mexican. I had a carnitas burrito with green chile on top. YUM! The burrito was huge and the carnitas were the BEST. I was told the carne asada may be even better. Stop here!
